Forecaster Considerations about the NCEP Coastal Visual Range Guidance

The cloud model and visibility algorithms in the eta-12 have been significantly changed, and since the implementation of July 8, 2003, they produce significantly less obstructions to visibility near the surface. This appears to be very different from the output of the older algorithms, but should be closer to reality since the physics behind the algorithms is much improved.
